This seven week course offers an introduction to mindfulness meditation along with exploring a well-researched set of character strengths that exemplify the good in humanity, and in each of us. Working within this unique symbiosis provides rich opportunities to advance towards one's best life.
MINDFULNESS Although instruction here is for beginners, those who already benefit from a mindfulness practice know that meditating with others can always be beneficial. With the diverse types of meditation introduced, an experienced instructor, and some live music, the course should be helpful and enjoyable for most levels of experience. CHARACTER STRENGTHS The character work is based on the groundbreaking research available through the VIA Institute on Character. Each participant will start with the VIA survey to determine their personal strengths profile. From here, we work with how these 24 core elements can be used to increase one's self-understanding, daily effectiveness and happiness/fulfillment. Recent research has been showing how developing each strength can improve one's life in tangible, often wonderful ways. |

The Zoom sessions will be on Tuesday evenings:
February 4, 7:00-9:15 PM ET February 11, 7:00-8:45 PM February 18, 7:00-8:45 PM February 25, 7:00-8:45 PM March 4, 7:00-8:45 PM March 11, 7:00-8:45 PM March 18, 7:00-8:45 PM (March 25, 7:00-8:45 PM if needed) Participants are asked to attend all sessions since both the course flow and the group connection have a cumulative nature. Each class will be recorded for an emergency absence. To get the most from this experience please be prepared to spend something like half an hour a day between sessions in short meditations and working with the materials. If you latch onto just a few favorite elements of this work, over time the rewards can become powerfully evident. The ideas and practices here have been tested throughout human history and their benefits to individuals have been overwhelmingly confirmed by recent studies. This investment of just thirty hours of your time, spread over seven weeks, could substantially change your life for the better! Before signing up then have these things in place: your motivating interest in self-development; time for study, meditation and thinking; a commitment to attend every class session; and a solid Zoom connection both audio and visual. Access to a color printer can be helpful, plus have one raisin on hand for the first class. To register for the High Octave Living transformational seven-week workshop beginning February 4, 2025, place a $50 deposit below. It's refundable for any reason until Feb. 1. If finances are tight, talk to friends and family members about this opportunity. This course of study and practice (also called MBSP or Mindfulness-Based Strengths Practice) was created substantially by Dr. Ryan Niemiec, Psy.D., science and education director for the VIA Institute on Character. MBSP has by now been shown to equal the most well known mindfulness program, MBSR (Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) in increasing human wellness, and is being embraced by institutions of higher learning around the world.
